How to send money to Canada

  1. Log in and start a transfer

Log in to your OrbitRemit account at orbitremit.com or open the OrbitRemit app. Select CAD (Canadian Dollar) as the receiving currency and enter the amount you want to send in AUD or NZD.

  2. Add your recipient

Enter your recipient’s Canadian bank account details:

    – Full name: As it appears on their Canadian bank account

    – Bank name: e.g. RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC

    – Institution number: 3-digit code identifying the bank (e.g. RBC: 003, TD: 004, Scotiabank: 002)

    – Transit number: 5-digit code identifying the specific branch

    – Account number: 7–12 digits depending on the bank

Canadian bank routing: Canadian transfers use the institution number + transit number system rather than SWIFT/BIC or IBAN. Your recipient can find these numbers on a void cheque or in their online banking app under “direct deposit” details.

  3. Pay and confirm

Choose your payment method. The $4 fee and exchange rate are fixed at the time you confirm.

  4. Funds arrive

Funds are deposited directly into your recipient’s Canadian bank account within 1-3 working days. There is no deduction at the receiving end.

Transfer limits

You can send up to CAD $100,000 per transaction to Canadian personal and business accounts with OrbitRemit. Transfers of AUD or NZD $10,000 or more are fee-free.
